Laat je stem horen voor gelijke vliegtaks in Europa
Nederland wil per 1 januari een vliegbelasting invoeren die afhankelijk is van de reisbestemming. Daarmee dreigt Nederland het duurste vliegland van de EU te worden.
Het gevolg: steeds meer reizigers kiezen voor een luchthaven net over de grens. De vlucht gaat dan nog steeds door, alleen het vertrekpunt verandert. De uitstoot verdwijnt daarmee niet, die verplaatst alleen. Een hogere Nederlandse vliegtaks draagt daardoor nauwelijks bij aan het verduurzamen van de luchtvaart, maar zorgt wel voor een ongelijk speelveld binnen Europa.
De VNC brengt de impact hiervan op de Nederlandse luchtvaartsector en de werkgelegenheid al langere tijd onder de aandacht van politiek Den Haag. Wij steunen deze oproep voor eerlijke concurrentie en gelijke regels binnen Europa dan ook.

Make your voice heard: support a level playing field for aviation taxes across Europe
The Dutch government plans to introduce a new air passenger tax from 1 January, with the amount depending on the destination of the flight. If introduced, the Netherlands could become the most expensive country in the EU to fly from.
The result? More travellers are likely to choose airports just across the border instead. The flights will still take place – only the departure airport changes. This does not reduce emissions; it simply shifts them elsewhere. A higher Dutch air passenger tax is therefore unlikely to make aviation more sustainable, while creating an uneven playing field within Europe.
For some time, VNC has been highlighting the impact of these proposals on the Dutch aviation sector and employment to politicians and policymakers in The Hague. We therefore support this call for fair competition and consistent rules across Europe.
