easyJet update October

25 oktober 2024

In our newsletter we keep you informed, this month it’s about:

  • Recent roster instability
  • Crew food tasting
  • Membership meeting Oct 29

Recent roster instability
We have recently received multiple complaints about the instability of rosters and the short notice changes that were happening frequently. We take this seriously and have adressed this during our monthly meeting last Tuesday. There has been a significant spike in short term sickness over the past few weeks which has subsequently impacted your rosters. When transitioning from summer to winter we generally see an increase in general sicknesses such as average cold, the flu and stomach viruses and this was clearly visibile in the schedules.

These spikes in sickness are very hard to plan for and unfortunatley cause some roster disruption. To mitigate, easyJet has removed all out of base tripping for the time being to keep all crew in AMS. The crew levels are very healthy and the standby levels each day are high. There are concerns about sick late notice instances in AMS, these generate a higher disruption than normal sickcalls. Please make sure you follow the CLA procedures to avoid being called in for a meeting. We want to stress that if you are sick, you are sick and should stay home, it’s best to take some extra days to fully recover than to come back too soon. If you have any further questions, please reach out.

Crew food tasting
At 24 october, a delegate from the VNC has attended the fresh food crew food tasting. The hot meals have been selected in PMI and today we had the opportunity to choose the rotations for the cold breakfast options, salads, hot and fresh sandwiches, snackpacks, and additional items. We had a wide selection to choose from and have  tasted some new options we think you might like. This was for the winter menu that will be loaded from December 1 2024 till May 30 2025.

To link into this matter we have adressed the raw chicken incident. Newrest has aknowledged this was a mistake that never should have occurred and they have initiated and immediate investigation. Once the investigation has been completed, the outcome and mitigation plans will be communicated. In the meantime, we have decided to temporarily remove all the fresh items with chicken from the crew food rotations. Please make sure to complete a CSR whenever crew food is not to standard.
