easyJet update February
Reading time: 2,5 minutes
Last Tuesday we had our monthly consultation meeting with the company. A lot of announcements have been made by easyJet in the past month and we do understand that our members have a lot of questions. We have raised these during the monthly meeting and in this newsletter we will give you an update.
CLA 2024
On the 30th of November our members have voted in favour of the new CLA, per Jan 1, 2024. Due to the intricacies of the expansion of the pay structure easyJet stated that they needed three months to get all the agreements in place from a payroll perspective. As a result we agreed on backdated pay for all the pay elements in your February 2024 pay. Unfortunately there is a disconnect in interpretations of the agreement for all parties involved. We remain in touch with easyJet to come to a solution for the AMS cabin crew at the earliest opportunity.
TLV operations
After easyJet announced to resume operations to Tel Aviv from several bases in the network (including AMS), we have been in contact with our members that have raised their concerns on this matter. easyJet has stated that they are willing to listen to your concerns and address each one individually. We have voiced our concerns too, as we believe that operations could be impacted when crew have hesitations or anxiety when operating this route. easyJet has recently amended the Tel Aviv Q&A . We advise you to read it and if any questions or concerns arise please feed this back to the base team and feel free to CC us (Sectiebestuur.easyjet@vnconline.nl). We are available for support. We remain in contact with our lawyers and will update our membership when more information becomes available.
Tax rates
In the last couple of months we have received complaints from our members about the tax rates applied to their wages. We have consulted our tax advisor and the company to raise this issues. Our tax consultant has done checks on the payslips that some of our members have sent to us. The conclusion of his checks are that these individuals have been undertaxed. When we raised this issue with easyJet, they stated that they determine the tax rates by the annual basic pay as all other pay elements are variable. And if crew wishes to have a different tax rate that they need to request this with HR.
The VNC believes that there should be another solution to this and is currently looking into the matter. We will of course keep you up to date.
Since we are on the topic of taxes, feel free to schedule an appointment with our tax consultant Jeroen van der Steen for your 2023 tax return. Click on this link and select ‘Aangifte inkomstenbelasting’ and pick a date and time. Jeroen is available to file your tax return until the 1st of May.
AMS base structure
There will be changes to the structure of the AMS base team. The pilots will get a dedicated Pilot People Support manager and a base admin will be added to the team for administrative support.
easyJet will publish the vacancies shortly via their channels.
easyJet Holidays voucher
Please be reminded that your 2023 easyJet Holiday voucher will expire on the 31st of March at midnight. The terms and conditions of the easyJet Holiday voucher have been amended. One of the major changes to the T&C is that any holiday booked prior to 31st of March and cancelled after this date will not receive the credit of the 2023 voucher. The T&C’s can be found on the Connected portal.
We are available for all of your work and CLA related questions. I need of expert advice or do you just need someone to talk to? We are ready to answer your questions and offer advice where necessary. You can reach out to us by phone or e-mail. We are happy to help and are available 24/7.
