  • 5 years easyJet section at the VNC!
This summer marks 5 years easyJet section at the VNC. We are very proud of what we have accomplished together so far and that wouldn’t have been possible without all of you. Let’s look back at the greatest CLA improvements and remarkable moments in our short history.

We have consistently had a VNC membership percentage of above 90% and are currently at around 94%. This is not only the highest membership percentage within the VNC, but also in the entire easyJet network!

Strong together
This has proven to be our most powerful asset as we are a strong negotiation party and succeeded in getting the best deal for our members. We are extremely proud of you, our members, for your loyalty and involvement in the past 5 years and would like to thank you for your support and trust in us.

Improvements
A great demonstration of our strength was the 50/50% vote of our first tentative CLA agreement back in 2018, this was the first time it ever happened in VNC history. 94% off all members casted their vote for the approval of the tentative agreement but this was rejected. As boardmembers we went back to the negotiating table and managed to get further improvements.

Better working conditions
We have successfully negotiated 2 collective labour agreements (CLA) and significantly improved working conditions:
-
Basic and sector pay increase of up to 44% since out first contracts;
-
Introduction of a pension contribution by easyJet and a subsequent increase to 7%;
-
Full basic pay for the first 31 days of sickness;
-
The introduction of career breaks;
-
The introduction of 2 new part time patterns with fixed days off;
-
One off loyalty bonus of up to €1200;
-
Removal of the language alleviation programme;
-
Increase in permanent contracts;
-
Into day off payment increase;
-
Night stop payment increase;
-
The introduction of travel expenses;
-
The introduction of moving days;
-
Full pay during work related injury.

Facing challenges
We have faced some challenging times together and have been faced with difficult decisions. In 2020 Covid-19 hit and we were asked to agree to a pay freeze twice for a total of 2 years to secure job retention. 93.6% casted their vote and the pay freeze was accepted. The pay freeze ended this past April 2022 and our current CLA is now fully instated until 31st of march 2023.

Since the founding of the easyJet section at the VNC, Ron Sneijder was the first president of our section. At the end of 2021,  Ron announced his resignation to pursue career advancement within easyJet. We know some of you have had their reservations about his move and what this would mean for future collaborations/negotiations, but we can assure you that we have made a smooth transition and our business relationship is led by integrity and best interests at heart.

Preparations
We have started prepping for our upcoming CLA negotiation, that have been confirmed to start in October. We are exploring the option of having an external negotiator to keep us even more sharp and empower us as we go into the negotiations. As your representatives, we would like to hear from you, our members. Please send us an email or pick up the phone to share your suggestions or questions. We are always open to feedback and appreciate honest and open communication.

Together we stand the strongest and we thank you again for your trust, support and loyalty of the past 5 years! #samensterk and ad maiora semper.
